Message	I remember hearing that also, that the top speed is 171 mph. I know that on the C5 the top gear is too tall (for fuel economy) to be useful to top speed runs. I recall people saying that top speed in 5th gear is higher than it is in 6th gear, due to the fact that the 6th gear is so tall that the engine can't overcome drag to go any faster. But then I heard from some owners that this isn't the case at all, that the car will go much faster than that official figure, and that the new Z06 does in fact have enough power to pull through 6th gear. What I do know is the the Vettes have a slicker coefficient of drag than the Z does and it has more HP.
